SPEAKUP ANDROID APP
SpeakUp is a Text to Speech converter android mobile application that is aimed to help the people who are mute, speech impaired or have reading or learning disabilities like dyslexia. Some text has to be entered in the app that is then spoken out by an inbuilt voice. We can also record a voice and can save the recorded voice along with some textual information. All the recorded voices can be viewed and re-played.

SpeakUp is an android mobile application that is aimed to help the people of all gender and age group who are mute, speech impaired or have reading or learning disabilities like dyslexia. It has features like Text to Speech Convertor which allows user to enter text that has to be spoken by the app. The text messages can then be stored, deleted or added to Favorites any time. The app also has a voice recorder allowing users to record, play, pause and stop individual recording and save them along with textual descriptions. Users can also change the Volume, Pitch, and Speed of recordings according to their comfort level. Feature of adding recordings and messages to your favorites is the most anticipated feature of this application. Users can archive their favorites/most used recordings and text messages by adding them to favorites and directly access them without searching in all recordings.
The project is simple to understand. Basic knowledge of Android, Java, XML and SQL is enough to understand all the key aspects of the project.

Skills used
• Developed a mobile application using Java for Android that converted the text entered in the app into speech in order to help the people who are mute, have reading or learning disabilities like dyslexia
• Conducted extensive surveys on around 100 students with reading, visual and speech impairments using various methods like Focus Groups, Interviews, and Online Surveys for gathering real world project requirements that resulted in targeted as well as planned product development
• Analyzed the surveys by visualizing data on MS Excel and enhanced the application according to the refined user requirements that ensured higher customer satisfaction
